Helping You Find & Forge Your Own Path
Life Coaching
Life coaching creates the opportunity for me to help you maximize your full potential and reach your desired goals and aspirations, by equipping you with the tools to do it successfully.
Couples Counselling
The end goal for couples counselling is to enable couples to communicate more effectively in order to resolve their problems or challenges which they are experiencing.
Specialising in
As a Specialist Wellness Counsellor and Social Worker, I specialise in the following:
Trauma Counselling
We all have the ability to heal from trauma. Trauma is not the truth of who we are, it is the perspective of who we are based on events that occurred in our lives. Trauma counselling is known as a short-term intervention which enables the individual to identify and come to terms with the feelings and emotions that you experience during and after a traumatic event.
Mental Health Counselling
Counselling and coping mechanisms for Mental Health Challenges (i.e. Depression and Anxiety)
Mental health is just as important as physical heath. Mental health counselling provides the safe space for individuals to explore their true feelings and thoughts by equipping them with beneficial skills and coping mechanisms.
HIV/Aids Counselling
HIV/Aids counselling provides information and support to people with HIV infection to enable them to not only cope with their diagnosis but also help them to make the necessary and appropriate behavioural and dietary changes to live a healthy and productive life.
Stress Management Counselling (relating to Burnout)
To promote mindfulness to an individual’s stress levels and enabling them to address and cope with the experienced stress by equipping them with different coping mechanisms.
End of life care Counselling
Seven-week self-improvement and self-discovery course
During my time in the corporate world, I came to realise that individuals I viewed as extremely successful all struggled with the same question: ‘Who am I? And what do I stand for?’.
During the seven-week journey I will help you unpack and explore different questions and possibilities to bring you closer to your ideal self.
Counselling utilising Impact Therapy
Impact Therapy is an approach to counselling that shows respect for the way clients learn, change, and develop. The emphasis is on making counselling clear, concrete and thought-provoking, rather than vague, abstract, and emotional.
Impact Therapy is a multi-sensory approach which recognizes that change or impact comes from not only verbal, but also visual and kinaesthetic exchanges.
Family Counselling
Family counselling is seen as an intervention to develop and maintain healthy and functional family relationships. The purpose is to identify and address obstacles in the family that could be emotional, psychological or behavioural in nature.
What Is Life Coaching?
Life coaching creates the opportunity for me to help you maximize your full potential and reach your desired goals and aspirations, by equipping you with the tools to do it successfully.
Who Is Coaching For?
Life Coaching is for any individual that has the desire to make a mindshift change, challenge their current thinking or lifestyle patterns, improve in a certain area of their life or just gain greater fulfillment in their life.
Approaches I take to counselling and therapy?
As a Social Worker and Specialist Wellness Counsellor I truly believe that every person has the ability and potential to change their current circumstances. I want to meet you where you are in life. I utilise the following approaches when I work with my client:
1. Person Centred Approach
Carl Rogers (Humanistic Psychologist) said that people are just as wonderful as sunsets if you let them be. When I look at a sunset, I don’t find myself saying. ” Soften the orange a bit on the right hand corner.” I don’t try and control the sunset. I watch in awe as it unfolds. As a counsellor I treat every client with dignity, compassion and respect. Allow me to meet you where you are.
2. Holistic Approach
We often try to compartmentalise our lives – to separate our work life from our family life or our love life or our mental wellbeing from our physical wellbeing. But actually, these dimensions are all intertwined. You are the product of all the different dimensions that contribute to who you are, and how you react/respond to the environment around you. In order for you to become your ideal self, we cannot look at only one dimension in isolation, we have to take all the dimensions into account.
3. Strengths Perspective
By utilising the strengths perspective, I choose to believe that every individual has the inner strength to overcome adversity. The power lies in the ability to unlock and believe in your own inner strength and ability to overcome hardships. After all, the olive first gets crushed before it becomes olive oil.
4. Resilience Approach/Theory
Courage does not always roar. Sometimes courage is the tiny voice in your head that prompts you to try again tomorrow. I believe that resilience is not about overcoming but the journey of becoming.
About Me
The one thing you can be certain of when you wake up is that the sky will be there. The shades of the sky might be different every day. Some days the sky might be a bright shade of blue and on other days a very dull grey colour. I cannot guarantee you that each day will be your best day, but I can guarantee you, even on the dull grey days, it will get better, and the bright blue sky will eventually return.
Allow me to HELP you UNPACK any complex emotions and traumatic experiences so that we can MAGNIFY your resilience, ALLEVIATE your stressors and triggers to enable you to write a new NARRATIVE for your life’s journey.
I obtained my Social Work Degree from the University of Pretoria (UP), double majoring in Psychology and Criminology and completed my Honours degree in 2016. I am currently completing my Masters degree in Social Work, specialising in Health Care. I am a registered Social Worker with the SACSSP and registered Specialist Wellness Counsellor with the ASCHP.
I have always dedicated myself to what gives my life true meaning and purpose; and by making a positive difference in someone’s life. I have an undeniable passion for people, and I truly believe that my purpose is to serve those around me and to sow into their lives by enabling them to see their true potential and inner strength.
I am delighted that you are making this investment in Y O U R S E L F and I cannot wait to get started on this journey with you.
Motivationials
“When seeking help from a counsellor it does not mean that something is wrong with you. It can mean that you have the desire to work through complex emotions that you currently are experiencing; experience challenging negative thinking patterns that are becoming toxic in your life; you have the need to focus your attention on personal growth and becoming the version you envision for yourself; or that you are seeking guidance in some areas of your life and working through a traumatic event that you have experienced“
“As humans we always have so much grace with other people in our lives. But we forget that the person we need to have the most grace with is ourselves. You need to have more grace with yourself“
‘At the root of this dilemma is the way we view mental health in this country. Whether an illness affects your heart, your leg or your brain, it’s still an illness, and there should be no distinctions’
“You cannot pour from an empty cup“
